COMMEMORATIVE 9/11 POEM (copyrighted, 2011)
All Americans who were adults or even young children on 9/11/2001 experienced the tragedies of that disastrous day. Not long after, having my own experiences within blocks of the towers, I wrote a poem focused on my personal visions to help express some supportive meaning of what took place in my own proximity and what we had/have to do going forward in general. Here is the poem I now share with you 10 years later:
TWO BUILDINGS THAT ONCE STOOD TALL - TWO BUILDINGS, IT TOOK, TO REMIND US ALL...
Reflect how you felt during that tragic day,
and how you were concerned in many ways.
Not just for yourself, but for others too.
That day, without a doubt, you just knew
life was precious, too precious to let go by.
It was time to stop and wonder why.
How come we all hesitate
to show our care – but never our hate?
How many of us forget to look around and see what we’ve got?
Now, more than ever, we should see it’s really a lot!
Let’s not remember that day’s sadness and hate.
Instead, we should look towards our present, our future, our fate.
Let’s take this opportune time to utilize our experiences, as bad as they were
and develop those past experiences for our future.
Let’s show all our loved ones how much we really care.
Why not open those emotions, with no despair?
Our life is a time to give from our hearts.
So, let’s all remember to do our parts.
Life is too short to resist
what should be at the top of our “wish” list.
Togetherness of all of us each day
is the greatest wish in every way.
...Two buildings that once stood tall -
Two buildings, it took, to remind us all.
