DISAPPEARING INK

[Please try your best to take the time to read all four paragraphs in this blog!]

Nowadays, it's become very common for people to resist reading more than a few sentences!  Even the average employer or job agencies are spending less than 30 seconds to "read" résumés.  Have you recently tried forwarding a one-page or multiple-page article to someone?  If you did, there's a very good chance that they only glimpsed at it, if that much.  [I just sent this article's link to several folks & most of them will cringe & glimpse, too, when they see the four paragraphs.]

I believe that today's typical activities are to blame for most of the lack of people taking time to read all of the important words that were purposely written to be read.  Knowledge is being lost and job seekers are selecting the wrong employees sometimes. Unfortunately, more and more people are addicted to playing online games, writing their minute-to-minute happenings on Facebook, and/or texting each other.  Ironically, the latter two items (Facebook and texting) probably produce more typed words and/or abbreviations to read than the articles they could have read all along.  [My similar views on that are in my July 15, 2009 blog, "Does Anyone Talk Anymore" posted chronologically below this blog.]

We have also gained very bad habits through a tool I find myself using every day - Google.  Typically, Google has 2-4 lines of data displayed for each segmented search result and most of the time, those 2-4 lines have become just the right amount for our judgment.  Also, the first page of Google typically becomes the only page we'll read through without strain!  That kind of quick reading has habitually become very acceptable to us.

I'd like to suggest for most folks to allocate some of their seemingly unaccounted Facebook or text-messaging time towards reading more diversified subjects as there's so much information out there to help each of us to enhance ourselves.  After all, is it really important to constantly know every restaurant people go to repetitively or every burp that happened at their job?  Don't we have enough of our own issues at home to deal with that really matter?  By expanding some of our available time towards educating ourselves, we can gain worthy knowledge to share with our children or grandchildren.  In summary, I advise for everyone to read knowledgeable data that can be used for the present and even passed onto our loved ones for the future.

COMMEMORATIVE 9/11 POEM (copyrighted, 2011)

All Americans who were adults or even young children on 9/11/2001 experienced the tragedies of that disastrous day. Not long after, having my own experiences within blocks of the towers, I wrote a poem focused on my personal visions to help express some supportive meaning of what took place in my own proximity and what we had/have to do going forward in general. Here is the poem I now share with you 10 years later:

TWO BUILDINGS THAT ONCE STOOD TALL - TWO BUILDINGS, IT TOOK, TO REMIND US ALL...
Reflect how you felt during that tragic day,
and how you were concerned in many ways.
Not just for yourself, but for others too.
That day, without a doubt, you just knew
life was precious, too precious to let go by.
It was time to stop and wonder why.

How come we all hesitate
to show our care – but never our hate?
How many of us forget to look around and see what we’ve got?
Now, more than ever, we should see it’s really a lot!

Let’s not remember that day’s sadness and hate.
Instead, we should look towards our present, our future, our fate.
Let’s take this opportune time to utilize our experiences, as bad as they were
and develop those past experiences for our future.

Let’s show all our loved ones how much we really care.
Why not open those emotions, with no despair?
Our life is a time to give from our hearts.
So, let’s all remember to do our parts.

Life is too short to resist
what should be at the top of our “wish” list.
Togetherness of all of us each day
is the greatest wish in every way.

...Two buildings that once stood tall -
Two buildings, it took, to remind us all.

TIME FLIES!

Most of us start our work and/or school week on Mondays with one major thought, “I can’t wait until Friday.”  Then, Friday afternoon passes and we all become excruciatingly enthused that the weekend is about to officially begin!  Once the weekend is over, another weekly cycle begins and we find ourselves, once again, starting the same round of thoughts.

The problem with this outtake is that, in essence, we’re hoping for time to pass fast - not realizing the ramifications.  Before you know it, as each weekly cycle passes, so does life.  Then, another year has gone, and another year has gone, and another year has gone!

I am writing this to point out that, in my opinion, it’s "time" to stop pushing for the next weekend to arrive and, instead, begin appreciating the evenings of Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays a lot more.  Yes, we all have our responsibilities to earn money and education.  But, each day when each of those responsibilities pass, we can find a way to manipulate some of the remaining hours for enjoyment.  If we keep focusing on days ahead, we’re losing sight of the precious minutes directly in front of our eyes.

Everyone has chores, responsibilities towards others, etc. that subtracts their “spare” time but I’m writing my suggestion for you to tighten those minutes or think about rearranging them better.  The daily hours at work and/or school are usually managed for us or by us in a very efficient way.  Managing doesn’t have to end after that.   Why can’t we take our non-working/school hours and continually manage our personal efficiencies?  Managing can actually be fun and self-rewarding.

For example, if one of you daily chores is cooking dinner (such as macaroni) why not double the quantity to offer future meals and lessen time, too?  For instance, cleanup for such items as bowls & most of the utensils wouldn't have to be done twice.  You can freeze the extra servings and/or reheat it for a quick meal on a day that will eventually have extra time for you.  If you multiply the extra personal minutes for each week that this or similar concepts can create, you’ll find that your personal management has the potential to create many days of new, precious life!!

ROLLER COASTER OF WRITING

Writing sometimes has extreme ups and downs similar to a roller coaster ride (although I'm scared of most of them, but I'm certainly not scared of writing).  Whenever my friends or relatives turn to me for writing advice or to request my services, a lot of different emotions run through my mind as the words are formed.  With a personal attachment, for instance, a resume typically means that they're not happy with their current employer or they just lost their job.  Anger is usually, then, the emotion I have to control as each word is composed.

For those unknown persons that I write for, it's easier to avoid any emotional attachment; but sometimes, as I'm reading the summary they've provided, I can't help but once again feel the “Roller Coaster Ride of Writing”.  Whether it's sympathy, anger, or even some very positive emotions like happiness or laughter.

Of course, the positive feelings I get are my favorite.  A few years ago, I remember receiving two separate requests from two workers at the same small firm.  Each wanted me to write a poem relating to a man that had worked there for 45 years!  Also, each of their emails came within 15 minutes of each other.  I chose to contact the first requestor and informed her of what had taken place.  She explained that both she and the other gal were simultaneously trying to find an impressive website for writing - in hopes of getting the best written document for their soon-to-be-retired co-worker.  There was so much love that came out of their words (written and spoken) that by the time I started writing the poem, I felt their loving emotions as each rhyme was composed.  Those are the best rides!

Every structured point of my words that I write for others will always carry one or more emotions.  So, whether my writing is helping people get interviews for jobs that they’ve lost or it's helping to put heart into words, there's one destination my "Roller Coaster Ride of Writing" always takes me to in the end: helping others.  Wow, what a ride!!

WRITTEN RESEARCH

One of the great things about writing is getting to read others’ writing.  So I’m writing to you about their writing!

I enjoy several types of writing.  For instance, I love reading about baseball – particularly the Yankees.  Eventually, I may create a separate blog to write about them, but this article is more geared towards my desire to reading researched results.  It has helped me immensely throughout my life.  There isn’t one major purchase I make without researching the “research.”  Of course, it is wise to use your own judgment to make sure objectivity & logic prevail.

Many people get fooled by commercial ads or they choose a product based on biased opinions.  Just because you keep seeing something advertised, it certainly doesn’t mean it’s the best product.  It just  means they've spent the most money for their ads.

Also, don’t always believe what you read.  For instance, there’s a magazine that someone I know always refers to when it comes to computers or software.  Well, that magazine is loaded with ads from many of the brands they recommend.  Ironically, that person has had to replace their PC more times than most others I know.  In contrast, a magazine like Consumer Reports has no ads and prides itself with that great distinction.  If you don’t believe me, check out one of their used cars magazines or books and read the mechanical or physical car problems they wrote for your used car.  Of course, there’s always an exception, as any product can simply be a lemon.

Researching doctors can help save one's life.  There are many books and articles written for us to help determine a doctor.  Again, it is imperative to ensure the criteria is as close to being unbiased as possible.  Again, use your common sense to fully determine the best results.  For example, what’s the use of choosing a very qualified physician if his/her affiliated hospital is poorly rated?  Even a great surgeon has an advantage with the best tools/equipment on his/her side.

I take great pride in helping to provide others gain advantages with research.  It’s out there, take advantage of it.  At least it offers you the opportunity to try to do your best.  It doesn't always work – but, it usually does!

BURNT OUT

Every so often, we try to do way too much during times that are very stressful.  Well, for me, that time is now.  Actually, I can think of at least 10 times this past year that qualifies!  Anyway, I knew that I had to add yet another task to do and that task is to write onto my Blog.

Writing is definitely something that helps me because it enables me to express.  Of course, in this case it’s more of a gripe.  I don’t always have to write positive things, do I?  Although, I will add some positive to this:  no matter how stressful things may get for most of us, there’s always worse scenarios for others.

So, as I end my gripe session, I want you to all remember that things can always be worse.  Oh yeah, and hopefully, my next article will be a heck of a lot happier to write and read!!

WRITE FOR YOU
(Website Rebuilt)

For several years, I had been contemplating changing the layout and features on my website which was originally initiated in 2003.  It’s always hard to accept change, especially major change.  Besides, I knew how much hard work I had already put into it.  I also knew how much more work that today’s expectations would demand on me.

Well, not only did I change the layout and feature, but I reinvented it!  Once I start something, I have to finish it with the most strive for perfection that a human can offer.  My main focus was to demonstrate my writing style and quality throughout the website to exemplify to all potential customers the type of written work they’d receive from me.

Please review my website at http://www.writeforyou.ws/ to make your own assessment and provide feedback as I value everyone’s opinion.  Thanks!

THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

I once told my daughter, in her early school years, that it seems Americans have forgotten about the importance of teaching and learning one main language…English.  It’s certainly advantageous to learn a second language, whether it’s Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese, or any other language taught in America.  But, that second language shouldn’t be learned at the expense of our primary language, English.

That advice to my daughter not only helped her grades excel in English throughout the years that followed, but it also helped her respect the importance of all languages. When she added a second language to her curriculum, Italian, she received honors and even took the Regents test one grade ahead and achieved a 100% score, thus skipping a grade in Italian!

I point this out because there are so many poor examples I've personally read or witnessed from the last few generations.  I see it in the context of ads, periodicals, resumes, website content, business letters, etc.  How can such final products contain errors that have now become the norm rather than the exception?  These mistakes can easily cause a loss of sales, business opportunities, and, in the case of resumes, job opportunities.  Of course, if we don’t practice speaking English correctly, how are we supposed to write it correctly?

Even excellent writers ensure to get someone to proofread and look over their written work before submitting it to the public.  It is important to realize the importance of English and emphasize it to the younger generations.  It’s nice to have “ spell-check” and “grammar-check” these days but many times they fail.

It’s never too late to expand upon your own knowledge and improve both your speaking and writing skills – I do it every day.  You can even borrow a book from the library – you know the place that people used to go to before the internet?

DOES ANYONE TALK ANYMORE?

Computers and texting have helped make most of us talk with our fingers and not our vocal chords.  I’ll bet the statistics of laryngitis conditions have dropped significantly over the last five years.  I’m one of the main culprits to those stats.  Okay, as a professional writer, I’m supposed to write and type resumes, poems, letters, etc. but I’m also sitting here typing a blog to you!

Of course, for many years, television has had its share of the blame.  Most of us watch hours and hours of it - although some people are in denial.  Yes, it’s funny, but when you’re with a group of people (and actually talking) there seems to always be a few that don’t admit to watching television.  You should take note of those folks, because chances are, if you converse with them at a later date and indirectly bring up the topic of Hollywood, they can usually offer a lot of feedback.  Hmm, why is that?

How about those video games?  It seems most homes now have at least one device that offers gaming.  It’s just another time consumption item that takes away from personal conversations.

Next, there’s email and chatting forums, like Facebook.  Again, I’m a culprit of both.  Nowadays, though, emails seem to be a secondary option compared to Facebook or Twitter.  I currently belong to Facebook, and always want to check and read most people’s updates.  I state “most people’s” because there are some that get totally carried away and like to dramatize every inch of their actions (that's for another blog.)

Lastly, there’s reading novels.  Surprise!  Yes, reading novels!!  If you're alone during your reading time, this doesn't apply but if others are there (not reading) then you are guilty of lessening the opportunity to converse with others.

Now, I’m not suggesting in any way, that people should not text, blog, watch television, play video games, email, chat, or read novels.  My point is that we all need to ensure we set time aside and “talk” once in a while to those we love.  There are many options we can do:

-Talk while you’re watching or scanning through the commercials.
-Sit next to your loved one as you type and get them involved in forming the wording or commenting on the two-way chats.
-For every third email intended for one person, pick up the phone and try the old-fashioned “chat” option.
-Arrange your time to the best advantage to help create  further opportunities to talk once in a while.

Try some of the above-mentioned options, or come up with your own.  Don’t let electronics completely take over this precious life we've each been given.  I’m trying – as I’m writing this blog during a short timeframe while my loved ones aren’t present.

GUYS, GUYS, GUYS...
THIS POINT IS MOSTLY FOR YOU!!

It's unbelievable and frustrating to watch many males struggle to determine what gift they're supposed to buy their gal.  Whether it's for Valentine's Day, her birthday, or an anniversary; the answer is rarely a box of chocolate, another necklace, or flowers.  Instead, the answer that will always be appreciated is a personalized poem.  Even if it’s not your thing to write, the fact that you are willing to go out there and find someone to help you express your words shows 100% tenderness and love.

There are poems that can be bought in a card store, but they rarely capture the words she really wants to hear. In most instances, those three words “I Love You” are not the only words she wants to hear.  That’s because that common statement has lost its luster.  That term needs something to help support it with a loud shout that absolutely gets the message across - a personalized love poem.

I can take most of the pressure away from you as I’ll help you form the perfect love poem.  The best thing about it is that I will not just use my words, but I will use your words.  With just a few singular words that you feel are suitable for her (okay, I mean nice words), I can put together a most memorable poem.  She will absolutely be thrilled and appreciative and you will be the man of the week, at least!  Your gift will be the best gift amongst her friends and family.

Check out the http://www.writeforyou.ws/ website and the invaluable cost this simple effort will bring to you and her.

JOB MARKET CRUNCH!  I CAN HELP YOU!!

Today's job market is awful!  Each new day, we all hope that it will turn around, but it never seems to happen...layoffs here, layoffs there.

I have had my own experiences with such frustrations.  It’s very uncomforting to constantly watch behind your back wondering if you’re the next victim.  You are a provider for yourself and, in most instances, your family.  Unfortunately, that is only important to you, not to your employer.  The burden now becomes your challenge.

You need to have the advantage in today’s job market now, more than ever!  It’s very logical that, as unemployment grows, the competition gets steeper.  Additionally, companies are merging and going out of business, altogether.  So, you also have fewer employers to choose from each passing day!

Some résumé sites only use standard job descriptions or templates.  As a result, you’re paid-for resume becomes standard.  Moreover, your chances of getting a new job become no different than many of the other applicants.

I take great pride in making all of my customers’ resumes unique.  You’re unique, so why shouldn’t the resume represent you as such?

Feel free to visit my website for resume writing, or any other document writing.  My personalized service will ensure your pertinent data represents you uniquely and that you have the necessary advantage.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!

Today, July 4th, is our country's 233rd birthday! The Declaration of Independence was adopted and one of the wisest men of all time, Thomas Jefferson, was the primary writer.

From fountain pens to computer keyboards, many words have been written that have meant so much to each of us. For most, our lives began at a hospital, in which written forms were first required before our births and then our birth certificates were filled out as our first official document. That document is still used for continual forms today!

So, for the birth of our country and for the celebration of each of your births...
Happy Birthday!

WRITE FOR YOU

If you need a writer, one that will try and perfect every word for you, then I am the "write" man for the job.  If it's a résumé, you are sure to get the attention of most employers with my strong writing skills.  If it's a poem, it will be cherished and remembered forever.  While there are other writing services out there, http://www.writeforyou.ws/ differs as I aspire to always write with persistent perfection to ensure your documents are absolutely "write for you."
